Lafortune Park offers baseball, tennis, swimming, croquet and golf to both urban and rural residents. The park offers a wonderful 5K (3.2 mile) walking and jogging trail and plenty of picnic space.  Located in the heart of Tulsa (61st & Yale) LaFortune Park invites all Tulsans to take time out for leisure. 

The newly completed Buddy LaFortune Community Center/Kaiser Library is a splendid Vision 2025 state-of–the-art facility.  This facility is located off Hudson Ave. near 51st in the Gardens of LaFortune.  

All fields, open space, golf course, restaurant and community center are available for reservation.

JR. COUNSELORS – Training for Teens

The Jr. Counselor program is designed to give more responsibility to our older campers.  We will challenge them to lead by example and be eager and reliable sources of help.  They will have specific duties assigned to them which will be an integral part of the summer camp experience for themselves and the campers.  Jr. Counselors will enjoy all of the camp fun and reap the rewards of their extra efforts.  We offer limited Jr. Counselor spots each week.  Please register in person at the LaFortune Community Center.

Come meet in the Gardens of LaFortune Park for our annual Easter Egg Hunt. Participants are limited to 3 – 8 year olds please and be prepared for a shotgun start at 10:00 sharp. BYOB – Bring your own baskets!

WORKSHOP: INTRO TO GEOCACHING

Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting game in which participants

use a GPS receiver to hide and seek containers, called caches,

anywhere in the world. In this workshop, you will learn the basics of

Geocaching and hunt for a cache in our own backyard. Who doesn’t

love a good treasure hunt?

CANCELLED

POKER RUN Come and join the fun. We will be running around the jogging trail while collecting playing cards along the way. You will receive one card at the beginning of the run and then one every mile after the run starts. You will be trying to make the best hand with what cards you have at the end of the run. This is not a timed event so just come out and have some fun. Registration starts on March 2nd.

FIRST FRIDAY CONCERT SERIES Bring your favorite lawn chair or blanket and sit back and relax while local bands present family friendly music from all genres. Located in the Gardens of LaFortune Park (off 51st Street, just west of Hudson) our First Friday Concerts kick off each month from May - September with free entertainment from 7:00 – 9:00pm. The concerts are free to the public, so come out and enjoy!

fundamentals such as passing, shooting, dribbling and the three point stance.

ADULT ACTIVITIES

TELL IT LIKE IT WAS: FAMILY STORIES AS SHORT ESSAYS Write your true life stories as a series of short essays. Learn basic writing skills such as dialogue and story structure from this published author and creativity coach. Bring a pencil, paper, and a story idea to the first class. No experience in writing is necessary. Come prepared to learn and be encouraged.  Instructor: Romney Nesbitt

PILATES MAT Pilates exercises strengthen, stretch & stabilize the muscles of the core body. They create muscles that are strong, long and lean without the bulk of weight training. Exercises will be practiced on the floor using concentration, precision and control. Bring a mat.  Janet Parachin facilitates this class.

STRETCH AND TONE

Firm and tone your body using various choreographed floor routines.

STROLLER STRIDES

Firm and tone your body with a variety of exercises. We will be

using resistance bands, your stroller, your bodyweight and even

your baby as we move through the workout. Please bring a baby

carrier. Class is taught by Kim Thurman.

OPEN ADULT VOLLEYBALL

Come enjoy the new court! New players must sign-up to get on the

YOGA

Yoga develops strength, flexibility and stamina in the body. It also

creates focus and clarity in the mind, while releasing tension and

stress. Bring your mat. Yoga blocks and strap are optional but occasionally

ZUMBA

Zumba embraces all the fundamental principles of fitness. The extraordinary

secret behind Zumba is how it magically motivates the body to efficiently

burn calories, tone all muscle groups, incorporate full range of motion,

and improve the cardiovascular system. Zumba dances seamlessly

flow from one move to the next.  Christy Hays is the instructor of this class.

TAI CHI

Tai Chi is an internal martial art practiced for health purposes as well

as for it is martial arts aspects as well, promoting flexibility and

balance. Classes will be composed of warm-ups using gentle

stretching and Chi Kung (breathing exercises) followed by form

movements and a cool-down of more Chi Kung breathing.

CHINA PAINTING

This class is for all levels of painters. Beginners will be provided the basics

of china painting. The emphasis of this class well be on design and

application of paint for an effective grounding in the art of china painting.

Flowers, fruits, scenes and a vast array of other subjects are available but

students are encouraged to expand their skills as they wish. All painting is

done on glazed porcelain and porcelain bisque and all work is fired in a

CERTIFIED SAFE SITTER Become a certified CPR/First Aid babysitter.  Keep your mind sharp by playing a variety of puzzles and games. These activities combine entertainment and brain teasing and are applies to concepts common to art, science and mathematics. Each week will have a variety of puzzles and games to challenge your mind.
